The 2nd Annual Skate for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus will take place on June 28, 2014 at Castledowns Skate Park (11510 153 Ave). All proceeds raised will be donated to the Spina Bifida and Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Northern Alberta
Celebrate the life of Jamie Kehoe at his 3rd Memorial Birthday Skate Jam. Hippie Mike will be getting on the microphone this year and helping out Jamie's Dad and Donny Chang to make it an awesome day. People can come out and share their stories, have some food and participate in the Skate Jams. Starts at 2pm, North Delta Skate Park.

Shake the lake is a an awesome action sports and music festival held each year in Sylvan Lake. Shake The Lake features live bands paying on each of the three days of the event, lots of family activities, as well as a skate competition and a BMX competition.
This year the skate comp was a mini ramp contest held outdoors in the warm sun of an awesome Alberta summer day. Everyone had a great time, and the spectators enjoyed seeing the talents of skaters in three categories, young guns, amateur, and open. I intended to return Sunday to take photos at the BMX comp too, but events prevented that from happening. Here are a few (38) photos from Saturdays skate comp.
(Submitted) Go Skateboarding Day 2013 is coming on Friday June 21st and West 49, Canada’s largest actions sports retailer, will be out in full force at local skateparks across Canada. Skateboarders from Newfoundland to British Columbia are expected to take part this year and enjoy the day, keeping true to the GSD mission “Have Fun – Go Skateboarding.”
Skateboarders across the country (and the world) will celebrate the tenth annual “Go Skateboarding Day,” the official national holiday for the sport. Established by The International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC), which organizers say provides passionate skateboarders and those inspired by the activity an opportunity to “drop everything and get on a skateboard,” June 21st the first day of summer, which is also the longest day of the year (to maximize the fun), was elected an official holiday of skateboarding the singular goal being to get out on a skateboard and ride.
West 49 stores are set to celebrate with riders of all ages and skill at local skateparks in their neighborhoods. And they have big plans to celebrate this year. They will be hosting contests & demos, games of S.K.A.T.E., BBQ’s, fundraisers for local charities and of course there will be prizes and product tosses throughout the day. West 49 will be celebrating the pure exhilaration, creativity and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world – skateboarding in the 55+ local skateparks across Canada. Rock the Rails in Leduc is a Skate and BMX competition with a battle of the bands and urban stage. Held at the Leduc skatepark, Rock the Rails is a great time and worth the road trip to take part, or to enjoy teh event as a spectator. Click for more information.
